We have a large amount of outdoor space here at Dudhope Castle that we are developing into a beautiful sensory and wildlife friendly garden and green space that people will come to relax, interact with local nature and socialise.
We offer a weekly garden volunteering workshop called Grow Curious. Uppertunity aims to develop the community both socially and environmentally and includes our members in this development.
Grow Curious runs on a Thursday and Friday from 10am to 12pm.
We are building several outdoor features to encourage visitors...human and otherwise.
We grow herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers. To promote biodiversity we try and plant a variety of native plants. We build outdoor art pieces and woodwork furniture using reclaimed materials.
Our main base is in the gardens of Dudhope Castle, which we're working on developing into a multisensory garden!
We are building a trail around the castle to share a little of the history of the castle and lands around it. Each section will have a feature object, something to search for and some information about it.
We have been working on an interactive trail around Dudhope Castle Dundee and the surrounding gardens to encourage people to connect with nature, history and each other! We have been working with Scrapantics and other local groups to build and create the trail.
The Trail is in its early stages, and we’re still doing a lot of the ground work, but we are really happy with how it’s looking. Some structures are installed already, paths are being built, and we have hosted a creative workshop with Scrapantics to make bird sculptures from recycled materials.
Groups are still welcome to get involved at any point, with any of the work.
There are various creative activities involved at all stages. Get in touch!
