As part 2 of our chess set, here's how to make a fabric board to play with and store your pieces!
You will need
2 large pieces of fabric (at least 80cm along each edge),
Embroidery needle and thread,
Scissors,
Pen,
And paint.
We used red and white to match our rocks, but you can use other colours so long as you choose which colour of squares goes with each set of pieces.
Today's art activity is making the pieces for a pebble chess set! ♟️
You will need:
16 pebbles of 2 different colours (32 in total)
A permanent marker
A bowel of soapy water and a towel.
While you're cleaning and drawing on the pebbles, take the time to feel each rock and notice its differences from the others! 💎
We'll be showing you how to make a board in another video, in the mean time you can make an 8*8 grid using almost anything flat you have 32 of and the floor!

Your watch face, a piece of ribbon/cord/yarn long enough to wrap around your wrist 5 times, any clip on charms.

You will need:
A tin can, a clock mechanism, a hammer and screw (ask for help and be careful!), 3 drinks bottle lids the same size, paint, glue and any decorations.
You can use an old clock mechanism you already have, or contact us to source one for you!

It can be used to store things like cotton pads, cotton balls, and larger sweets!
You will need:

We've got an easy tutorial for making a fun sensory pet today.
You will need:
A few sheets of toilet roll, some clear tape, a pen, some red paint and a pair of scissors.
You could also experiment with adding googly eyes, buttons, and different fillings to make a unique squishy!
Following from our last video, we also have a way to make a light barbell out of rice and old bottles. 🌾
Make sure your rod is sturdy enough to take the weight of both bottles full of rice!
You will need:
Two bottles that are the same size and shape, a strong rod that fits through their openings, duct tape, rice, and any decorations for the outside.
Today we're showing you how to make a small weight out of an old bottle. We've used a couple of soft drinks bottles, but you could use any bottle you can get the lid on and off of and is watertight. ♻️
1 litre of water weighs ~1 kilogram, so check the bottle's volume to make sure you can safely use it as a weight.
Even though we can't go outside as much, getting exercise is really important to keeping both mind and body healthy!
Gentle weight exercises are good for building both strength and co-ordination.
You will need:
Glitter paint, some cleaned out bottles with lids, water, duct tape and any decorations you want for the outside.
Today Paula has demonstrated a 3rd embroidery stitch, called a Double Threaded running Stitch. This one is a little bit fiddly, so take your time and don't worry if you make mistakes, practice makes perfect!

You will need: a small jar, some coloured clay/playdough/salt dough, tin foil, cardboard and scissors.
If you want to make your own dough, mix 1 cup of plain flour with 1/2 a cup of salt and 1/2 a cup of water. If you're using this you'll need some paint as well.
We made ours a tree-coloured tree, you could make yours any colour and shape!

This is the last part of our beginners crochet tutorial! Paula is demonstrating how to change wool colours and how to start forming a square of material.
Ink contains at least one pigment (which gives ink its colour) dissolved or suspended in a liquid or gel. Many inks that look like they're just one colour actually have multiple different pigments in them. You can find out what colours of pigment are in a washable felt tip pen using kitchen towel and water!
You will need:
Kitchen towel, A6 card (cut A4 into quarters), felt tip pens (non-permanent), stapler or needle and thread, scissors, water and jug or bowl.

Thissss week we made a fun wiggly friend out of paper and paint!
