Accessibility and safety at Uppertunity

We support emotional wellbeing in creative, accessible ways:

• Our Check-In Wheel helps everyone share how they’re feeling at the start of a group. 
• Our team is here for you. If something’s on your mind, you can talk to an Uppertunity staff member at any time. We’ll listen and help, and if needed, we’ll connect you with someone else who can help too.
• We keep in contact with carers and support staff. This lets us pass on any concerns we or you may have, big or small.
   

Your voice matters, and you’ll always be supported to speak up.

We take safety seriously. 

• All our staff and volunteers have completed disclosure checks
• All our staff complete safeguarding, first aid, health & fire safety training
• All our staff take part in regular CPD and team supervision
   

We also have clear procedures to handle concerns, including how to support difficult conversations with care and compassion. We are fully insured with public and employer liability cover.

When you join Uppertunity, you’re joining a community:

• You’ll receive a monthly newsletter with everything happening at Uppertunity.
• You’ll get your own “About Me” postcard for our community wall.
• We want to hear your ideas! You’ll be asked what you think about our activities and services. Your thoughts help us make Uppertunity even better, so please speak up!
   

We want you to feel like you belong here, because you do.

We’re based in Dudhope Castle, a historic building with some physical limitations. But we’re doing all we can to make the space welcoming for all.

• Ramp access 
• Wheelchair-accessible toilet (not Changing Places standard)
• Wide front doors (80cm+) – not automatic due to listed status
• Tables and corridors are accessible. Corridors are 120 cm wide, and tables are 70cm high.
   

We welcome visits in advance if you'd like to check the space works for you. Inclusion is a journey, and we’re always learning how to do better.
